Monica Dore’

  1. 2007-2008
  2. I got a letter in the mail asking if I wanted to join and I was interested in trying new things and stayed as I fell in love with the team and students.
  3. Fun-filled learning experience
  4. It showed me that I can handle challenges and succeed under pressure.
  5. Veterinarian
  6. Wherever I can get a good education; UVA or VTech.

Nick Tibbetts

  1. 2008-2009 season
  2. To hang out with friends and get involved in an engineering program.
  3. Fantastic learning experience.  I’ve enjoyed solving challenging problems, on the spot thinking and problem solving, and working with the mentors and students.
  4. It has shown me that engineering is something I am definitely interested in and changed my perspective of the field.

  2. I got a letter that I was selected to be in the robotics club, and my boyfriend was doing it too. So I came.

  2. my boyfriend dragged me to meetings, it wasn’t too bad, I came back, I liked it after a while

Colleen Brenner

  1. 2008-2009 season
  2. I joined because my brother was on the team and they needed money for competition, so I helped fundraise and I sort of melted into the team.
  3. It’s been a great experience, I’ve met a lot of cool people and I’ve learned a lot about engineering  and marketing.
  4. I’ve gained a lot of self-confidence from the team, I’ve met a lot of acceptance here and it’s been great.
  5. I have no idea, there are so many things I could do.

  2. I was looking for stuff that would be good for a college application, but that’s not why I came back. I came back because it was just so cool and I enjoyed building a robot.

Chelsea Hall

  2. I joined because I have an interest in learning as much as I can. I wanted to know more about robots and I’m looking forward to competitions and fundraisers.
  3. Being a member of 1829 has been a wonderful experience that has taught me many things about life and dealing with work in a stressful situation.
  4. Well, we came from one school and have multiplied and become a very strong team that works well together. that is an important skill for life.
  5. I want to be a pediatric cardiologist
  6. I plan on attending Duke, Virginia Tech, or James Madison.
